Disneyland’s “Live” Mermaids Appreciation Post - Disneyland’s “live” mermaids were officially part of the Submarine Voyage from the Summer of 1965 - 1967. However, there were also “live” mermaids swimming the lagoon on opening day, June 14, 1959. Eight synchronized swimmers were hired to perform an underwater ballet at the day’s festivities! Pictured above are two mermaids from 1967, and pictured below, are their 1959 counterparts.
